A Lost Atari 2600 Classic—Now Playable Online!

Yentl: Dispute the Text, the official video game adaptation of Barbra Streisand's hit movie Yentl, was not a bestseller upon first release. Rumor has it that hundreds of thousands of copies were buried under the gift shop of the shopping mall in Streisand's basement. Still, the game became a favorite among arcade shoot-em-up enthusiasts,  with Steve Halloran of Electronic Gaming Monthly noting that its unique gender-swapping mechanic seems to have been an influence on the later classic shooter Ikaruga.

A new copy of Yentl: Dispute the Text has just been unearthed and lightly updated to play on modern hardware.

CONTROLS:

Left and Right Arrows — Move

Space Bar — Shoot and Change Gender

(Special thanks to the podcast Blank Check's Yentl episode, which is where I first became aware of the existence of this game, sending me off on the search to finally track down a copy.)
